Mindful Leadership in Action – Tip of the Week – Be the Change You Want to See in the World

“Be the change you want to see in the world” is a beautiful and profound quote by Mahatma Gandhi.

During the holidays emotion is often magnified. It is not uncommon to be with people with whom you generally do not spend a great deal of time with during the year. Additionally, emotions can run high because you are pressed for time or because potentially the aspirations of the year may not have been realized. When this happens you may become critical of others wanting them to be one way or another. But perhaps not how they are. This will naturally bring about disappointment and friction.

When this happens it is important to remember the obvious which is that the only person you will ever be able to change is yourself. With that in mind it is worth remembering to “be the change you want to see in others”. When you bring full Mindfulness to your behaviour and the way you are in the world, you send a message that speak louder than words. You essentially communicate what is and is not acceptable to you from yourself and others. Leading by example is what it is to be a Mindful leader in all circumstances.
