The Emotional Life of Your Brain – a New Book by Richie Davidson

I rarely recommend books on my blog. But this one is definitely worth recommending. The Emotional Life of Your Brain is a book by Richie Davidson with Sharon Begley (author of Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain, another one of my favourite books).

Richie is a world-renowned neuroscientist from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is a pioneer who has been researching the impact / effect of meditation on the brain for 30 years. This book is a culmination of his life’s work. I have cited his work extensively in Mindful Leadership: The 9 Ways to Self-Awareness, Transforming Yourself and Inspiring Others.

I have had the pleasure of speaking with Richie on a number of issues. And we share a common aspiration to share and help manifest Mindfulness and Compassion in the world. In May 2013 in Madison, he sponsored an event entitled, “Change Your Mind Change the World” featuring conversation with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and other world-renowned experts in global health and sustainable well-being. It was a pleasure and privilege to attend the event and see how many people share this aspiration.

Richie is a dedicated meditation practitioner with his heart in the right place. In addition to being a gifted neuroscientist, he is a lovely human being. I hope you enjoy his book as much as I did and find value in it.
